Sensitive Skin
Sensitive skin is a thin or a fine-textured skin.Sensitive skin has come to mean people who have allergic or irritant reactions to products mostly, but can also mean sometimes people who develop rashes in response to environmental things such as plants or foods. It reacts quickly to both heat and cold; therefore, it sunburns and windburns easily. It is commonly dry, delicate and prone to allergic reactions. Temperature changes, detergents, cosmetics and products containing alcohol (used on the skin) can all cause irritation, leaving the skin red and blotchy.
If you have this type of skin, it is important to use sun-screen lotions or creams year around. Avoid products that contain fragrance. Cleanse with mild soaps and even consider soapless products. Always rinse thoroughly and pat the skin dry. Always test new skin care products, makeup or perfumes on a small area to see if your skin reacts negatively.
